Untangling vendor sprawl, reviewing legacy systems, picking the right tool for the job. Two decades of "what would I do if this were my own?"

Updates, backups, security patching, the boring sustaining work that keeps a site online. Predictable monthly retainer.
Learn more →We are not a large agency. We are a husband-and-wife studio split between the United States and Ukraine — Inna paints and teaches, Shaun builds software and consults — and the work goes through our hands directly. No account managers, no offshore handoffs, no junior dev hidden behind a senior name on the proposal.
A meaningful share of every commission is set aside for vetted humanitarian organizations working on the ground in Ukraine. We publish what we give and where it goes. Quality first, honest pricing, direct support for Ukraine — those three commitments are the entire pitch.
Three commitments
EXPERTLY MADE
Revel in Inna's sharp eye for the beauty of the natural world. Benefit from Shaun's commitment to detail and his unique, one-of-a-kind attention to excellence. Nothing leaves our studio that we would not be proud to hang on the walls of our own home or enjoy the ease and intuitive nature of technology.
REASONABLY PRICED
Honest rates for our time and craft. No padding "for the cause" then donating the difference. The cause is served because we set part of every sale aside for it directly.
ALTRUISTIC EFFORTS
A meaningful share of revenue goes to vetted humanitarian organizations working on the ground in Ukraine. We publish where the money goes and how much.
Frequently asked
About Cobaltmaize
What is Cobaltmaize?
A small studio run by two people in two countries. Inna creates art and teaches languages from Ukraine. Shaun builds software and consults from the United States.
Why two domains — .com and .org?
Both cobaltmaize.com and cobaltmaize.org point to the same site. The .com is the canonical address; the .org redirects to it.
Working with us
What kinds of projects does Shaun take on?
Hand-crafted macOS, iOS, and web applications; small-business IT consulting; legacy-system review; and ongoing maintenance contracts.
Does Inna take commissions?
Yes. A limited number of commissioned paintings and photo series each year. Reach out and tell us the subject, size, and budget.
ArcLight Pro
What is ArcLight Pro?
A Mac and iOS app built by Shaun. The app runs entirely on your device and does not collect or transmit any personal data.
How do I get help with ArcLight Pro?
Email us through the contact form with your version of the app and macOS or iOS. We respond personally.
Donate for Ukraine
Do you keep any of the money I donate?
No. The Donate for Ukraine page links to organizations directly. You give to them, on their site. We earn nothing from those clicks.
How do you choose which organizations to feature?
Clear mission, on-the-ground track record, transparent reporting, and independent ratings where available.
